How are you doing? Long time no speak, eh?

The best place to hide from your responsibilities is in plain sight.

Where the f*** have you been?!

So if you are on my mailing list, you would have received an email back at the start of December outlining my plans to finish out the year, blog-wise. As you may be able to tell, that royally flopped. No new content was uploaded and now here we are, at the end of January with a post saying “oops ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  ”.

But it wasn’t because I got lazy. If you read my post, When One Door Closes, Another One Opens (Just a Crack) you would know that I embarked on a grand quest to educate myself on the ins and outs of IT Support through a course run by Google. So I was totally busy getting smart, sacrificing my evenings and weekends to find a way to break into the tech industry.

I eventually found a job that wasn’t really related, but still felt obligated to finish the course to challenge myself and accomplish something amazing. Even though I’m not able to pursue a tech career right now, maybe completing this certification could lead to something in the future.

And it goes downhill from here…

And because I managed to complete the certification, it has become one of my big wins for 2021! But that win wasn’t without consequence. Because I effectively kept myself in a hyper-stressed state for about 3 months, I ended up getting the flu.

This was probably the worse flu I’ve ever had. It wasn’t COVID according to both the lateral flow and PCR tests, but who knows. Either way, I was inundated with uncontrollable shivers, aggressive coughs, and head-splitting headaches for about a week, and I still felt like trash for a few more days before somewhat recovering. The coughs left me unable to breathe comfortably for about a week after “recovery”. It was just a whole load of bull****.

And that was why I couldn’t really post at the end of the year (or at the start of this one because I pushed my course deadline back by a few days).

Since then, I’ve just been trying to keep up with work and fixing my sleep schedule. All I want to do in my spare time is unwind with a show from my streaming platform of choice or maybe play a game. Also – because part of my new role involves writing descriptions for things, I feel too worn out to write anything out of hours, especially the Guaranteed Failure post I planned.

I was going to discuss the process of doing the IT Support certification, how I found it overall, and if I would recommend it. I totally sat down and tried to write it a few times, but maybe the trauma of studying so intensely was too fresh. I’ll try my best to finish it, but don’t be surprised if it takes a while. I’ve still got projects from halfway through 2021 that still haven’t been revisited.

Call Melinda Gordon because I have some unfinished business.

The existence of unfinished projects weighs on me constantly. There are some where I have completely given up and I’m fine with moving on from them, for the most part. But there are others that are great ideas, with lots of effort put into creating them, that have practically been abandoned. I would need a huge push of inspiration and determination to finish them, but I haven’t found it recently. I’ll do things at my own pace, but maybe this year, we can see some of those old projects see the light of day.

Got me feeling like Sisyphus

I’m trying to upload my old Twitch VODs to YouTube, but the one I’m working on at the time of writing has given me so many issues. The video didn’t export properly the first time and cut off a quarter of the video. I tried again with the same editor to receive the same results. The definition of insanity.

So I switched to another editor and found that a sound edit wouldn’t work with the way the program processes audio clips. Then I switched to ANOTHER editor – this time on my phone – and realised the music didn’t line up after exporting, even though it did in the draft version. Now I’m exporting it again and will see if it works this time. Then I’ll go through the lengthy upload process, because 2-hour videos don’t take 5 seconds to upload, especially with my WiFi.

Hopefully this will be the last time, then I can move on to the next video and keep it moving so I can upload VODs shortly after I stream. That way I can build a routine and get this content creation thing under control.

Best Wishes and a Call to Action

I hope you had a lovely end to 2021 and a great start to 2022. Here’s to a year of succeeding at what we put our minds to. If you have any goals for the year, let me know in the comment section, email me or send me a DM on Instagram.

Until next time, stay safe and…

Stay Thirsty!
